Amauri Menocal

Singer

My name is Amauri Menocal González, also known as "El Menor" or "El Tuza" as my friends call me. I'm a Cuban sonero. From a very young age, I was drawn to music, as I had rhythm and clave in my veins. I started my professional music career in 1991 with a group of young people called Salsa Joven. It was my first experience as a singer, and I never thought I would get to where I am today. From there, with a bit more experience, I was invited to join a group called Cuarto Ciclo. By then, I was a professional musician. Later, I went to the capital, Havana, and joined several top-tier groups and orchestras such as Oderkis Revé and his Changui, led by Maestro Oderkis, as well as Conexion Salsera by Nicolás Sirgado Coto, and his Eco del Caribe. I spent a lot of time working in Old Havana with different sextet groups, playing traditional Cuban music. This is where I met several salty musicians, some from the Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. Throughout my career, I had the opportunity to meet musicians of the stature of Andy Montañez, Mr. Jonny Venturas, and Maestro José Alberto "El Canario". With these groups, I had the honor of performing at various international festivals in Europe, Colombia, and Mexico. Now, I have the honor of being a part of the Latin Heartbeat Orchestra led by Maestro William Mendoza. My mission has been fulfilled. Thank you.
