Joey Hernandez

Joey Hernandez was born in Manhattan, New York but raised in the town of Comerio, Puerto Rico. His introduction to music came from his father Jose Luis Hernandez who was a bassist in NYC in the 60's and 70's. At the age of 18, Joey moved back to NYC and studied bass with Bassist Guillermo Edgil at Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts. For over 30 years he has performed with numerous Salsa Orchestras and artists in the US and Europe. He has developed a style of bass playing that includes afro-cuban bass tumbaos which go back to Arsenio Rodriguez times. Joey is excited to be a member of the LATIN HEARTBEAT ORCHESTRA and brings his own heartbeat with his bass and love for music.
